{"id":553,"date":"2021-10-04T12:39:26","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T12:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waterfrontsouthcamden.com\/?p=553"},"modified":"2021-10-04T12:40:31","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T12:40:31","slug":"how-to-celebrate-camden-county-history-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waterfrontsouthcamden.com\/?p=553","title":{"rendered":"How to Celebrate Camden County History Month"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By TAPINTO CAMDEN STAFF<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Published October 2, 2021 at 8:22 AM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CAMDEN, NJ \u2014 Local history buffs are in luck this month, as October is Camden County History Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/waterfrontsouthcamden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/camdencountyhistorymonth-1024x641.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-554\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Camden County Historical Alliance, a partnership of about 50 local historical organizations, has lots of events and activities planned for the city before Halloween, including some in Camden City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Walt Whitman House will offer &#8220;legacy&#8221; tours every Friday and Saturday this month at 2 p.m. which will highlight the work he did while living in Camden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Battleship New Jersey will hold a lecture titled &#8220;This History of Shipbuilding and the Navy on the Delaware River\u201d at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5. To register, those interested should call (856) 966-1652 x127 by Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Oct. 10 at 2 p.m., the Camden Shipyard &amp; Maritime Museum will host a presentation about&nbsp; \u201cDisasters on the Delaware River.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two historic houses of worship will also be open for tours. Tours of Newtown Friends&#8217; Meetinghouse on Haddon Avenue will be available on Sunday, Oct. 3 and 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m..
